Machine view: machine replacement capability

Reported by: user Owned by: somebody
Priority: minor Milestone: Buzé Release 0.6 - 1.0
Component: buze Version: win32
Keywords: insert machine Cc:

Description

A new feature which enables to replace a machine with another machine in the machine view would improve the usability considerably, enabling the user to test multiple machines in the same spot in the chain.

This could be achieved with a new option in the right-click context menu. Right now there is "Delete" and there could also be "Replace ->".

Otherwise, the Aldrinesque approach would be some new right-click context options for the arrows. Right now there is "Delete" and "Insert ->". There could be more flavors of "insert" such as "Replace parent(s) ->" and/or "Replace child ->". The (s) in parents is important. Makes it easy to replace a bunch of, let's say for example, cheapo amps.

No matter how it is implemented in the GUI, it would be a time-saving feature.

I just realized that I'd made a small mistake in my description for the arrows contextual menu. The arrow obviously doesn't have multiple parents or children.

I was really thinking about multiple machine changes if right-clicking the machine itself. "Replace parents" would replace all machines that point to the right-clicked machine, to whatever you choose.
