Aldrin: Frequently Asked Questions

How do I get my old Buzzmachines to work?

On Linux, there will be, for the near future, no support for loading legacy Buzzmachines, for various reasons. Many of these plugins carry bugs that can never be fixed. None of these plugins will run on 64-bit computers. Songs using Buzzmachine plugins will not load on other computers, conflicting with the design rule of the CCM format: CCM files should play anywhere without any additional dependencies required except libzzub.

Aldrin had initial support for Buzzmachines on Win32. As of Aldrin 0.8, Win32 is no longer supported. If you are searching for a Buzz-like legacy-friendly tracker, please have a look at this project instead.

Why is the count of plugins so small?

It is a longtime goal to have exactly one plugin per task, and thus allow versatility and yet portability of modules (songs) across various platforms. Over time, a plugin will acquire new parameters and functions, rather than a new plugin being written.
